Daily Local News, 8/07/16

WEST CHESTER >> The vacant seat on the West Chester Borough Council after the resignation of Brian Abbott has been filled by Michael Galey.

On Aug. 2, with a unanimous 5-0 vote, borough council approved Galey’s appointment as the new representative of 3rd Ward.

Galey has been a resident of the 3rd Ward since 2009 and is currently a member of the Zoning Hearing Board and previously was a member of the Planning Commission. He is also a member of the West Chester Democratic Committee.

He is a partner at Fisher & Philips LLP, a national labor and employment law firm.

Abbott resigned from the borough council after moving out of West Chester. Galey will fill the seat until January 2017. A special election will be held this upcoming November to determine who will fill the remainder of Abbott’s unexpired term.

The person elected in November will serve until January 2018.
